English is without question a global language, used in international trade and tourism, in academia and research, and in the electronic media. The importance of learning English cannot be overstated in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world. English is typically the language of latest-version applications and programs and new freeware, shareware, peer-to-peer, social media networks and websites. Software manuals, hardware-installation guides and product fact sheets of popular consumer electronics and entertainment devices usually are available in English first before being made available in other languages.

Within the complex linguistic situation in Israel, the English language enjoys a special status, being the mother tongue of a significant portion of the population. English has a strong presence in Israel, surpassed only by the presence of Hebrew. English is the language of wider communication; it is used as a default option whenever the use of Hebrew is not possible; it enjoys a prestigious status; its knowledge is shared by all graduates of the Israeli school system; the exposure to it is high, and it plays a substantial role in the professional and cultural life.

At Nahshon high school we offer a professional staff of well-trained English teachers, who practice different domains and skills required for the full knowledge of the language – speaking, writing, and understanding the spoken language. We also guide our students to be able to manage social interactions, to appreciate literature and culture, and to use accurate grammar in their use of English. Our students enjoy English studies in small groups, as well as Partani lessons, and mostly take the 4 and 5 point matriculation exams.
